Pakistan

One of the highlights of a trip to Hunza is the Khunjerab Pass in Pakistan. The pass is the highest paved international border crossing globally and is the highest point on the Karakoram Highway. The road was built in 1982 to replace two unpaved passes: the Kilik Pass and the Mintaka Pass. The road was originally named after a native Wakhi language word, so the name "Khunjerab" means "the pass of the apricot."
